Week of June 13

To clarify:  The final draft of your research paper should be turned in by now to your respective teachers, in a paper copy.  Please bring it by the AAC as soon as possible.

Then, the essay for your final presentation is the paper that is due by midnight on Saturday night (Jim’s class email to me and Robert’s class email to him!).  This is important for us to edit them and return them to you on Monday afternoon in class.

Week of June 6

I really hope you enjoy your last week 0f internship work!  Good job in your last 11 weeks!  You’re on the last stretch!

Check it out–on Monday you have the chance to practice your *fully prepared* final business presentations.  Jim, Robert, and I will give you feedback.  That way, you can be relaxed this final week and be ready to give your presentations to the panel of investors  on Monday June 13th.

Let’s have fun this weekend on our float and camping trip!

Week of May 30

I hope you take advantage of some of the Memorial Day Weekend Festivities (the info was in an email I sent you earlier).

IMPORTANT INFO:   End of program info and dates Look at this schedule closely to see what your next 2 1/2 weeks hold for you!

For those of you who haven’t, please email first drafts (rough drafts) of your papers as soon as possible, to your teachers.  There are many things to do and think about at the end of our I-LEAP program, so the sooner you do the major work for your paper and with your business team to prepare for your final business project, the easier the last week of the program will be, as you will be working on your final speech then and doing all the preparations necessary to go home!

See you tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. sharp at UP!  We need to leave no later than 8:45 a.m.!

Week of May 16

On the schedule, please note that at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, there is an important ceremony that you  have the opportunity to attend! We’ll talk more about it tomorrow on the Hermann trip, but be aware of the changed times this Monday for shopping and lunch (lunch on your own in UP).

Business Project #4–TV and Radio advertisements.  Come ready to perform them!  If you need props or anything special to use in your commercials, let me know on Saturday, and I’ll see if I can find anything.  We’ll give you good feedback on your commercials in case you want to use them in your final business presentations to the “Panel of Investors” at the end of our program.  We’ll also record both commercials for each group–that way you could use the recording if you like it!

After the Monday meeting—————Royals Game all the way!  Bring your cheering voices!   It’s going to be a new and fun experience!  You can compare it to baseball games in Korea!

Here’s our schedule.  Week of May 9

Check your emails for the charts with your times to meet with ISCS staff for your mock interview, and for your times to meet with Jim or me to talk briefly about your research paper topic ideas.  Saturday will be our trip to Hermann, a beautiful town of German heritage.  We’ll talk more about it and other end of the program events at the check-in time at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

I-LEAPers, you are half-way finished with your program!  I hope you continue to challenge yourself and take full advantage of the rest of your time here–in your language improvement, your internship work, your connections with your friends, etc.

This week the Asian American Association will continue to provide excellent workshops, talks, and activities that will be interesting.  The schedule is below.  They have something planned for every day next week–I put those activities on our calendar, too, but the descriptions are on their website.
